Chrysler Pacifica second-row seat belt can come unlatched

NHTSA campaign 17V542000 · Reported 2017-08-31 · Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious, because a passenger could be riding unbelted without realizing it; the notice does not say to stop driving, so keep an eye on that belt and book the free repair.

What's wrong, in plain English

This affects 2017-2018 Pacifica minivans with the 8-passenger seating setup. In the second row, the buckle for the middle seat can press against the left outer seat belt in certain seating situations and pop it loose. Someone sitting in that left seat could find their belt unlatched without meaning to unbuckle it, leaving them unprotected in a crash. Chrysler dealers will install a shorter buckle for the middle seat so it can no longer release the belt beside it.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Pacifica is included. 2. Contact a Chrysler dealer, or Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall T54), for an appointment. 3. Have the shorter second-row buckle installed at no charge.
