What's wrong, in plain English

The battery pack in these plug-in hybrid minivans can start a fire. It can happen even when the van is parked and switched off. Chrysler tells owners to stop charging the vehicle entirely and to park it outside, away from your house, garage or any other building, until it is fixed. A dealer will update the software that controls the battery pack and, if an inspection shows a problem, replace the pack itself. There is no charge for any of this.

What you should do

1. Stop charging the van now, and park it outside and away from any structure.
2. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Pacifica is included.
3. Contact a Chrysler dealer or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 52D) for the free software update and battery inspection.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. The battery pack may cause a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the "Off" position.
Safety risk
A vehicle fire increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to charge their vehicles, and to park outside and away from structures, until their vehicle is repaired. Dealers will update the high voltage battery pack control module software. In addition, dealers will inspect and replace the battery pack assembly, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning June 23, 2026. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is 52D. The Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on June 11, 2026.
