On these Mustangs with automatic transmissions, the metal bracket that holds the brake pedal in place can crack when you brake hard in a sudden stop. If the bracket breaks, the pedal may not work the way it should and you could lose some or all of your ability to slow the car — most likely at the exact moment you need the brakes most. Ford dealers will replace the brake pedal bracket assembly free of charge.
