Mercedes-Benz GLB side spoilers may detach from tailgate

NHTSA campaign 21V231000 · Reported 2021-04-01 · Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

Detached spoilers can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The small side spoilers on the tailgate of these Mercedes-Benz GLB models may not have been attached correctly at the factory. A spoiler that works loose can fall off while you are driving and land in the road, where it becomes a hazard for the cars behind you. A dealer will inspect both spoilers and replace them if needed, free of charge. If you notice a loose or missing trim piece at the back, mention it.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your GLB is covered by recall 2021050009.
2. Book an inspection with your Mercedes-Benz dealer, or call MBUSA at 1-800-367-6372.
3. The inspection and any spoiler replacement are free of charge.
