Mercedes-Benz GLB and A220 front axle part can rust

NHTSA campaign 21V990000 · Reported 2021-12-17 · Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

This is serious because a break means losing steering control, and while the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, you should get the car inspected as soon as a dealer can see it.

What's wrong, in plain English

The part that holds the front axle in place can rust badly enough to break. If it breaks, you can lose the ability to steer the car. This affects certain 2021 AMG GLB35, 2019-2020 A220 and 2020 GLB250 models. Your dealer will inspect the part and put in a new one if it is corroded, at no cost to you. Mercedes-Benz mailed owner letters on July 29, 2022.
