Cadillac XT5, XT6 and GMC Acadia fuel leak risk

NHTSA campaign 21V422000 · Reported 2021-06-03 · General Motors, LLC

critical How serious is it? About this label

This is the most serious kind of defect because a fuel leak can start a fire; the notice does not order you to park the vehicle, but get it inspected immediately and stop driving if you smell fuel.

What's wrong, in plain English

The lines that carry gasoline to the engine may not have been connected and seated properly when the vehicle was built. A line that is not seated can work loose or come apart, letting gasoline leak out. Fuel leaking near a hot engine can catch fire. If you ever smell gasoline or see a puddle under the vehicle, stop driving it and call for help. Dealers will inspect the lines and replace them if needed.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls right away. 2. Call Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782 (GM recall N212335590), or go straight to your dealer; letters were mailed July 1, 2021. 3. The inspection and any fuel line replacement are free.
