What's wrong, in plain English

On these Tundra pickups, the headlight circuits can send power to the high beams and the low beams at the same time. They were never meant to run together, and the extra electrical load can make the connector behind the headlight get very hot. An overheated connector can start a fire. At the dealer, the engine wiring harness is modified, and any bulb, bulb connector, or headlight assembly already damaged by the heat is replaced. All of this is free.

What you should do

2. Call a Toyota dealer or Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 (recall 21TB06 / 21TA06) and make an appointment.
3. Have the wiring modified and any burned parts replaced at no cost.

Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Tundra vehicles. The headlight electrical circuits may power the high and low beams simultaneously, which could overheat the electrical connector.
Safety risk: An overheated electrical connector can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will modify the engine wire harness assembly and replace any damaged bulb, bulb connector, and/or headlight assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 21TB06 and 21TA06.
