The sticker inside your door that tells you how much weight your vehicle can safely carry shows the wrong numbers. It was added after the truck or SUV was built to account for extra equipment, and the added-weight figure printed on it is inaccurate. If you trust that label when loading people, cargo, or towing gear, you could put more weight in the vehicle than it was designed to handle.

How serious is it?

This is a paperwork problem rather than a broken part, and the notice does not tell you to stop driving, but an overloaded vehicle is harder to control and more likely to crash.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included. 2. Call Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 (recall 26TA18) or your dealer to schedule the label replacement; owner letters are expected to be mailed October 18, 2026. 3. Until the new label is on, go easy on heavy loads and towing — the repair is free.

Summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid, 2025 Tundra Hybrid, Tundra, 2026 RAV4 Hybrid, 4Runner i-Force Max Hybrid, and 4Runner vehicles. The load carrying capacity modification label may display inaccurate added weight values. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Safety risk
A vehicle with an incorrect maximum capacity weight value may be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the load carrying capacity modification label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 18, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 26TA18.
