Toyota Tundra rearview camera may not show image
medium How serious is it? About this label
The real danger is backing into something or someone you cannot see, and the notice does not tell owners to stop driving — keep using the truck, but turn around and check your mirrors every time you reverse until it is repaired.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks with the Panoramic View Monitor camera system may not show the backup camera picture when you shift into reverse. Without that picture you cannot see a small child, a pet, or an object sitting directly behind the truck while you are backing up. A dealer will update the parking assist software for free. Toyota began mailing owner notification letters in March 2026.
What you should do
2. Contact your Toyota dealer or Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 to schedule the update.
3. Have the parking assist software updated — the repair is free.

- Summary
- Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Safety risk
- A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will update the parking assist ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 23, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB02 and 26TA02.
