Honda Vehicles: Center Seat Belt May Not Lock Child Seats

NHTSA campaign 21V900000 · Reported 2021-11-18 · Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

high How serious is it? About this label

An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The middle seat belt in the second row has a feature that locks the belt tight so a child's car seat stays put. On these vehicles that locking feature can switch off when it should not, leaving a child seat loose instead of held firmly in place. A loose child seat can move in a crash and injure the child. A dealer will replace the whole second-row center seat belt assembly at no cost.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included.
2. Call your Honda dealer or Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 to book the repair.
3. Have the second-row center seat belt assembly replaced — it is free.
