Ford Transit Connect Windshield May Detach in Crash

NHTSA campaign 22V192000 · Reported 2022-03-25 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

The problem only shows up in a crash, and Ford has not told owners to stop driving, but the van gives you less protection in a wreck until it is inspected.

What's wrong, in plain English

The front windshield on these vans may not have been glued to the body properly when it was built. Windshields are bonded to the frame with adhesive, so a weak bond is not something you can see or feel while driving. Ford says that in a crash the windshield could come off the vehicle, which raises the chance of injury. A dealer will inspect the windshield and, if needed, take it out and put it back in correctly, free.
