Ford Transit Connect panoramic roof panel may detach

NHTSA campaign 24V294000 · Reported 2024-04-26 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — a panel can let go without warning at highway speed; Ford has not issued a stop-driving order, but get the van in quickly and be aware the roof could detach before it is repaired.

What's wrong, in plain English

The large fixed panoramic roof panel may not have been bonded to the body properly when the van was built. A weak bond means the panel can work loose and come off while you are driving. A roof panel that separates at speed lands in the road, which is a hazard for you and for anyone driving behind you, and can lead to a crash. The dealer will remove the panel, clean the surfaces, and reinstall it correctly, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your van is covered. 2. Contact your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and reference recall 24S29. 3. Schedule the roof reinstallation — it costs you nothing.
