What's wrong, in plain English

The Nexo runs on hydrogen. A small filter sits in the port where you fill the car with fuel. On some 2019 Nexos, that filter can come loose after refueling, and hydrogen can leak out of the fill port. Hydrogen catches fire easily, so a leak near a spark or flame could start a fire. Hyundai will replace the whole fill port part at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Nexo is included.
2. Until it is repaired, park outside and away from your house, garage, or any other structure.
3. Call a Hyundai dealer, or Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall 224), to schedule the free replacement.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019 Nexo vehicles. Following hydrogen refueling, the inlet receptacle filter could detach and cause a hydrogen fuel leak.
Safety risk
A hydrogen leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the hydrogen fuel inlet receptacle, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 21, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 224.
