Mercedes-Benz Metris vans list wrong tire load limit

NHTSA campaign 22V482000 · Reported 2022-07-07 · Daimler Vans USA, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

An overloaded van can suffer a tire failure that leads to a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving the vehicle.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2016 through 2018 Mercedes-Benz Metris vans have labels showing the wrong number for how much total weight the tires can safely carry. Owners who follow that label could load the van heavier than the tires can handle without realizing it. Federal rules require this tire and loading information to be correct, and these vans do not meet that rule. Some vans may also have the wrong tires installed.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your van is included. 2. Contact your dealer or Daimler Vans USA at 1-877-762-8267 about recall VS2LASTRE. 3. Have the dealer install corrected labels on the door pillar and fuel filler door, and inspect and replace any incorrect tires, all free.
