Dodge Journey Side Reflector Is Too Dim

NHTSA campaign 22V723000 · Reported 2022-09-29 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

low How serious is it? About this label

A dim reflector may reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The headlight units on some 2017-2018 Dodge Journey SUVs contain a small amber reflector on the side. That reflector is supposed to bounce back the light from other cars' headlights so your vehicle shows up from the side, even when it is parked or its own lights are off. On these vehicles the reflector is too dim to do that job properly. The dealer will replace the whole headlight assembly on each side at no cost.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Journey is affected.
2. Call your Dodge dealer or FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and mention recall Z99.
3. Have the headlamp assemblies replaced free of charge.
