Toyota Tundra weight label lists the wrong accessory weight

NHTSA campaign 22V854000 · Reported 2022-11-18 · Gulf States Toyota, Inc.

low How serious is it? About this label

An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Every truck carries a sticker showing how much weight it can still carry after dealer-added accessories. On some 2023 Toyota Tundras with a sprayed-in bedliner, that sticker understates how much the added accessories actually weigh, so it overstates how much cargo and how many passengers you can still load. Following the number on the sticker could put you over the truck's real limit. Gulf States Toyota is mailing owners a corrected label free, with no dealer visit needed.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Tundra falls under recall 22R2.
2. Watch your mail for the free replacement label and apply it over the old one as instructed.
3. If the label never arrives, call Gulf States Toyota at 1-800-444-1074 and ask them to send another at no cost.
