INFINITI QX50, QX55 front passenger door won't auto-lock
medium How serious is it? About this label
The danger shows up only in a crash, where an unlocked door that opens increases the risk of injury; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
The wrong latch may have been installed inside the front right passenger door lock. Because of that, the door doesn't lock itself automatically the way it is designed to. A door that isn't locked can come unlatched and swing open during a crash, which can leave a person unprotected or thrown from the vehicle. The door still opens and closes normally otherwise. A dealer replaces the entire front right door lock assembly.
