Infiniti QX50 knee airbag cover may detach in cold
medium How serious is it? About this label
If the passenger-side knee air bag cover detaches during deployment, it can increase the risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
Certain 2019 INFINITI QX50 vehicles have a problem with the passenger-side knee airbag, the small airbag low in the dash that protects a front passenger's legs. In a crash during very cold weather, the trim cover over that airbag can break away completely instead of splitting along the seam built into it. A loose cover flying free during deployment can hurt the passenger it was meant to protect. Retailers will replace the passenger-side knee airbag at no charge.
