What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2023 Rogues, the bolts that anchor the rear seat belts to the body may not have been tightened enough on the assembly line, and they can work loose as the miles add up. A loose anchor means a rear seat belt may not hold a passenger the way it should in a crash. Dealers will check and tighten those bolts, and add labels at each anchor point listing the correct bolt size and tightness for any future repair.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Rogue is covered by recall PC978 or PC979.
2. Call your Nissan dealer or Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 to schedule the work.
3. The dealer tightens the rear seat belt anchor bolts and applies the new warning labels, free of charge.

Safety risk
A loose rear seat belt anchor fastener may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the rear seat belt anchor bolts. Additionally, dealers will apply warning labels to the seat belt attachment points to indicate the bolt size and torque value required for any future seat belt repair. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 14, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC978, PC979.
