This is serious because of the fire risk; Porsche has not told owners to stop driving or park outside, but have the battery checked as soon as you can.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2023 Porsche Taycans were built without enough sealant around the large high-voltage battery pack. Without a proper seal, liquid can work its way in and collect inside the battery. Liquid where it does not belong can let electricity jump across where it should not, and that can start a fire. There is no reliable way for you to spot this from outside the car. A dealer will test the battery for leakage and replace it if needed.

Summary: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2023 Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo, Taycan GTS, Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo, Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo vehicles. The high-voltage battery may have an insufficient amount of sealant, which can allow liquid to accumulate in the battery.
Safety risk: Liquid accumulation in the high voltage battery can cause electrical arcing, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will test the battery for leakage and replace the battery as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 31, 2023. Owners may contact Porsche's customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is APB2.
