This is a lower-level concern that only matters if you load the truck near its limit, since an overloaded truck is harder to control and handle, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

These trucks were fitted with a sprayed-in bed liner, which adds weight. When an accessory like that is added, a label in the vehicle is supposed to be updated to show how much weight the truck can still safely carry. On these trucks, that label shows the wrong number. If you load the truck based on the label, you could put more weight in it than it should carry. Dealers will replace the label free of charge.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with a spray-on bed liner accessory. The load carrying capacity modification label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
