What's wrong, in plain English

Porsche is recalling certain 2021-2023 Taycan models, including the 4S, Turbo, Turbo S, GTS and Cross Turismo versions. The large battery pack that powers these electric cars can develop a short circuit inside one of its modules, an electrical fault where current takes the wrong path. That can create enough heat to start a fire. Your dealer will check the battery and replace any bad modules at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Enter your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is included in recall APB5.
2. Call your Porsche dealer, or Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243, and schedule the battery inspection.
3. Have the battery inspected and any faulty modules replaced; the repair is free.

Summary: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Porsche Taycan, 2021-2022 Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo, Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, 2022 Taycan GTS, and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo vehicles. The high-voltage battery may experience a short circuit within the battery modules.
Safety risk: A short circuit in the battery increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the high-voltage battery by replacing modules as necessary, free of charge Owner notification letters were mailed on June 14, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is APB5.
