Kia Soul, Sportage and Seltos oil pump may overheat
critical How serious is it? About this label
An overheating pump can set the vehicle on fire; the notice does not tell you to stop driving, but you should park outside and away from structures until it is repaired.
⚠ Park outside, away from buildings — fire risk. See all such recalls.
What's wrong, in plain English
These cars have a system that shuts the engine off at stoplights to save fuel. A small electric oil pump keeps things lubricated while the engine is off, and the controller that runs that pump may have damaged parts inside. If it does, the pump can get too hot and start a fire in the car. A dealer will check the controller and replace it if needed, at no cost. Park outside and away from buildings until then.
What you should do
2. Park outside, away from your home and other buildings, until the repair is done.
3. Contact a Kia dealer or Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 (recall SC275) for the free inspection and parts.
