Moderate: the van still drives and brakes normally and there is no order to stop driving it, but without working stability control your crash risk goes up, especially on wet or icy roads.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2021 Ram ProMaster vans left the factory with a loose electrical ground connection. That loose connection can shut off the electronic stability control, the system that senses when the van is starting to skid or slide in a turn and quietly brakes individual wheels to keep it pointed where you are steering. Without it, the van handles like an older vehicle with no such help, and it is easier to lose control on a slippery or sudden maneuver. Chrysler says all affected vans have been repaired.

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your van is in recall 43B and whether the fix is already done.
2. If the recall is still open, contact your Ram dealer or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
3. The dealer tightens the ground nut assembly, free of charge.

Summary: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021 Ram Promaster vehicles. An insecure ground connection may cause the electronic stability control (ESC) to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."
Safety risk: Driving with an inoperative electronic stability control system can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will tighten the ground nut assembly, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been remedied. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 43B.
