Electric Ram ProMaster vans can lose drive power
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious — an unexpected loss of power in traffic can cause a crash; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but schedule the repair quickly.
What's wrong, in plain English
This covers the battery electric versions of the ProMaster van. The software that controls the electric drive unit may not manage power to the wheels properly, and the van can lose drive power. If that happens while you are pulling into traffic, climbing a hill or merging onto a highway, the van may slow or stop moving when you expect it to go. Dealers will reload the software in several control computers and, if needed, replace the electric drive unit.
