Infiniti Q50 and Q70 driveshaft can break

NHTSA campaign 24V470000 · Reported 2024-06-21 · Nissan North America, Inc.

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — you could lose power in traffic or have the car roll away, both of which can cause a crash; Infiniti has not told owners to stop driving, but get it fixed soon and always set the parking brake when you park.

What's wrong, in plain English

The driveshaft is the spinning bar that carries power from the transmission to the rear wheels. On these rear-wheel-drive cars it can weaken over time and snap. If it breaks while you are driving, the car can suddenly stop pulling even though the engine is still running. If it breaks while the car is parked, the car can roll away unless the parking brake is set. Dealers will replace the driveshaft free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is included.
2. Contact your Infiniti dealer, or Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200 (recalls R24A5 and R24A7), to schedule the driveshaft replacement.
3. Use the parking brake every time you park until the free repair is done.
