What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2024 Polestar 2 electric cars may have clamps that were not squeezed on correctly on one of the driver's side airbag units. Because of that, the airbag may not inflate the way it is supposed to. It is still there, but in a crash it may not do its job of cushioning the driver. Polestar dealers will replace that driver's side airbag unit at no cost to you.

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your Polestar 2 is affected. 2. Contact a Polestar dealer or Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504 to schedule the airbag replacement. 3. Have the repair done free of charge.

Summary: Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. (Polestar) is recalling certain 2024 Polestar 2 electric vehicles. The clamps may be improperly crimped on the driver's side inner far side air bag module (FSAB), which can cause the air bag to deploy improperly.
Safety risk: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's side inner FSAB, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 17, 2025. Owners may contact Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1044.
