Serious: a heavy truck rolling away on its own can cause a crash or injure someone nearby, so until it is repaired, park on level ground and chock the wheels.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain Volvo VNL trucks built without auxiliary parking brakes may not stay put when parked. When the truck is in weight bias mode, too little of its weight sits on the axle that carries the parking brake, so the brake does not have enough grip to hold the truck. The truck can roll away on its own. Dealers will replace the brake chambers so the parking brake holds properly. Volvo mailed owner letters in May 2026.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is included. 2. Contact a Volvo Trucks dealer or Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 (recall RVXX2601) to book the work. 3. Have the brake chambers replaced — there is no charge.

Summary
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024-2027 VNL (4) vehicles that do not include auxiliary parking brakes. If the vehicle is in weight bias mode there may not be enough weight on the parking brake axle, which could result in inadequate parking brake force.
Safety risk
Inadequate parking brake force can result in a rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake chambers, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 29, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2601. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning Feb 17, 2026.
