What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2026-2027 Volvo VNL and VNR trucks may have a center roof marker light that does not light up. Marker lights are the small lamps across the top of the cab that show other drivers how tall and wide the truck is, especially at night or in bad weather. With one out, the truck is harder to see and judge, and it does not meet the federal lighting rule. Dealers will replace the center roof marker light free of charge.

How serious is it?

This is a visibility problem rather than a breakdown risk: the truck is safe to drive, but it is harder for other drivers to see, especially in the dark.

Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer or Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 (recall RVXX2608); letters are expected October 5, 2026. 3. Have the marker light replaced free of charge, and take extra care driving at night until then.

Summary: Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2026-2027 VNL (4) and VNR (4) vehicles. The center roof marker lights may fail to illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Safety risk: Marker lights that fail to illuminate can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the center roof marker light, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 5, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2608. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning August 13, 2026.
