Volvo trucks may lose anti-lock brakes and stability control

NHTSA campaign 26V260000 · Reported 2026-04-23 · Volvo Trucks North America

high How serious is it? About this label

Losing anti-lock brakes and stability control on a heavy truck raises the risk of a crash or injury; the notice does not tell you to stop driving, but schedule the repair promptly.

What's wrong, in plain English

On these Volvo trucks, the electrical connectors on the rear brake units may be missing a protective cover. Without it, the connectors can short out. If that happens, the anti-lock brakes and the electronic stability control stop working, so the wheels can lock up in hard braking and the truck becomes harder to keep straight. Your dealer will inspect those connectors, install a protective cover, and replace the rear brake units if they need it.

What you should do

Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (these VINs have been searchable since April 30, 2026) to confirm your truck is included.
Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer, or Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 (recall RVXX2605).
Have the connectors inspected, the cover installed, and the brake units replaced if needed — free of charge.
