Certain Cadillac CT4, CT5, CT6 and Chevrolet Camaro models with the 10-speed automatic transmission can suffer internal damage inside the transmission. If that happens, the wheels can suddenly lock up, meaning they stop turning while you are driving and you lose control of the car. GM dealers will install new monitoring software in the transmission's computer so the problem can be caught, and the work costs you nothing.
A software error in the brake control computer can shut off your anti-lock brakes — the system that keeps wheels from locking up in a hard stop — and stability control, which helps keep the vehicle from sliding in a turn. Normally a dash warning light would tell you. With this fault, the lights stay off, so you could be driving without either system and never know. A dealer reprograms the computer at no cost.
If you bought your CT6 with the dealer-installed 20-inch accessory wheels, the sensors that watch your tire pressure are sending on the wrong radio channel. The car cannot hear them, so the low-tire-pressure warning light on your dash will never come on, no matter how flat a tire gets. You could drive on a badly underinflated tire without knowing it, which makes the car harder to handle. Your dealer will swap in all four correct sensors for free.
On some 2019 Cadillac CT6 cars, the turn signal does not switch itself off after you finish a turn. Normally, turning the steering wheel back cancels the blinker automatically. With this fault, the signal keeps flashing until you reach over and turn it off yourself, and it is easy to forget. Other drivers and people crossing the street may then think you are about to turn when you are not. A dealer will replace the turn signal switch.
When you pull a rear seat belt all the way out, it is supposed to switch into a locked mode that holds a child seat tightly against the seat. On some second-row and third-row belts, that locking feature may not work. Without it, a child seat cannot be strapped down firmly with the belt and could move around in a crash, so the child is less protected. Dealers check the rear belt retractors and replace any that do not lock as they should.
The metal bars in the back seat that a child seat clips onto got too much glue during assembly on some 2016-2018 Cadillac CT6s. The extra glue is on the inner anchor bars and can get in the way, so a child seat may not clip on correctly. A child seat that is not attached properly may not protect a child the way it should in a crash. Dealers will scrape off the extra glue and add rust protection.
