Cadillac tire recalls: Continental tires and faulty pressure sensors
Three of Cadillac's four tire recalls trace back to Continental tires rather than to the cars themselves. In 2020, GM recalled 2020 XT5 crossovers along with other GM models for Continental tires that were overcured. The February 2021 action was broader, covering 2020 XT4, XT5, Escalade and Escalade ESV models among many GM vehicles carrying suspect Continental tires. In October 2025, 2025-2026 Optiq EVs with 21-inch Continental all-season tires were recalled because the tread can partially or fully detach, a recall shared with the Chevrolet Equinox EV. The outlier is the 2020 CT6 with dealer-installed 20-inch accessory wheels, whose tire pressure sensors use the wrong radio frequency. 2020 model-year Cadillacs dominate this group.
Warning signs to watch for
- A tire going flat suddenly, or tread coming off a tire at speed
- The vehicle becoming very hard to control after a tire fails while driving
- On a 2020 CT6 with accessory 20-inch wheels, the low tire pressure warning light never illuminates even when a tire is low
- Otherwise no advance warning — the recalled Continental tires are identified by DOT and production mold numbers, not by how they look or drive
Is it safe to keep driving?
No recall in this group tells Cadillac owners to stop driving or park outside. GM still treats the three Continental tire recalls as serious, because a tire can fail suddenly or throw its tread at speed and leave the vehicle very hard to control, so have the tires inspected as soon as your dealer can see you. The 2020 CT6 sensor recall is the mildest: the car is safe to keep driving, but the low-pressure light cannot warn you, so check all four tires yourself with a gauge until the sensors are replaced.
What the free repair involves
For the Continental tire recalls, dealers inspect the tires and replace any whose DOT number and production mold number combinations Continental identified. On the Optiq, they inspect all four tires and replace those manufactured during DOT week 4024. On the 2020 CT6, dealers replace all four TPMS sensors with the correct ones. Everything is free of charge, and no over-the-air update applies.

Common questions
How do I know whether my tires are the recalled ones?
Not by looking at them. Dealers match the DOT and production mold number combinations Continental identified, and on the Optiq they replace tires built during DOT week 4024. Only an inspection at the dealer confirms which of your tires qualify for replacement.
Does the CT6 recall apply to every 2020 CT6?
No. It covers cars fitted with dealer-installed 20 x 8.50-inch accessory wheels, RPO 5JO or SHH. Those wheels came with TPMS sensors using the incorrect wireless radio frequency, so the low tire pressure warning light cannot illuminate when a tire is low.
Are the replacement tires and sensors free?
Yes. Under all four recalls the inspection and any replacement are performed free of charge, whether that means new Continental tires on an XT5, Escalade or Optiq, or four new TPMS sensors on a 2020 CT6 with accessory wheels.
