Cadillac seat and child seat anchor recalls: what owners should know
Only three Cadillac recalls land in this seating group, and they share little beyond the seat itself. Two are assembly defects: 2016-2018 CT6 sedans received excess structural adhesive on the inboard child seat anchorage bars, which can interfere with installing a child seat, and the 2022 XT4 shares an improperly welded driver's seat cushion frame with the Chevrolet Malibu, Equinox and Blazer built alongside it. The third is paperwork — 2025 LYRIQ owner's manuals inaccurately describe the rear outboard head restraints. The CT6 and LYRIQ issues are federal standard compliance failures rather than parts that break, and the LYRIQ needs nothing more than a corrected manual insert.
Warning signs to watch for
- A child seat that will not click firmly onto the CT6's inboard lower anchors
- Excess hardened adhesive visible on the inboard child seat anchorage bars
- Rear head restraint illustrations and text in the 2025 LYRIQ manual that do not match the actual restraints
- The XT4 driver's seat weld gives no warning you can see or feel; it only matters in a crash
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of the three recalls tells owners to stop driving or park outside. The 2025 LYRIQ is fully drivable — nothing on the vehicle is broken, only the manual is wrong, so set the rear head restraints by looking at them rather than trusting the illustrations. The 2022 XT4 with the suspect driver's seat weld may also be driven, though the seat may not hold you properly in a crash, so have it inspected. On an affected CT6, make sure any child seat latches tightly or secure it with the seat belt instead.
What the free repair involves
Three different remedies. For the CT6, dealers inspect the inboard child seat anchorage bars, remove any excess adhesive and apply anti-corrosion primer. For the XT4, they inspect the driver's seat and replace the cushion frame as necessary. LYRIQ owners simply receive a mailed owner's manual insert with corrected illustrations and descriptions. All three are free of charge.

Is the LYRIQ owner's manual recall worth a trip to the dealer?
No trip is needed. GM mails an insert with the correct illustrations and descriptions for the rear outboard head restraints, free of charge. The recall exists because inaccurate manual information could lead to poorly adjusted rear headrests.
Can I keep using the CT6's inner child seat anchors meanwhile?
Check that the seat clicks on tightly. Excess adhesive on the inboard anchorage bars can interfere with installation, so if it will not latch firmly, install the child seat with the seat belt until a dealer clears the bars.
Does the driver's seat weld recall cover only the XT4?
No. The improper weld in the power tilt-adjustment mechanism covers the 2022 XT4 alongside the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu and 2022 Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer. Dealers inspect the driver's seat and replace the cushion frame as necessary, free.
