Why are my Cadillac's daytime running lights and turn signals recalled?
Two of the three Cadillac exterior lighting recalls describe the same defect: daytime running lights that do not switch off when the headlights are turned on, which violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 and throws glare at oncoming drivers. The first covers 2021 Escalade and Escalade ESV alongside their Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon siblings; the second sweeps in 2020-2023 CT4 and CT5 sedans plus 2022-2023 Escalade and Escalade ESV. Both are body control module software problems, and both can be fixed over the air. The third is mechanical and limited to the 2019 CT6, whose turn signals do not cancel when you straighten the steering wheel. Escalade and the CT sedans repeat most.
Warning signs to watch for
- Daytime running lights stay lit at full brightness after you switch the headlights on.
- Oncoming drivers flash you or complain about glare from the front of your vehicle at night.
- The turn signal keeps flashing after you complete a turn and has to be canceled by hand (2019 CT6).
- In the daytime running light recalls nothing feels different from the driver's seat — no dash warning appears.
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of the three lighting recalls carries a stop-driving or park-outside instruction. For both daytime running light recalls, GM says you can keep driving normally while you wait for the software update; the risk falls mainly on oncoming drivers whose vision the glare reduces. The 2019 CT6 turn signal recall is also safe to drive, provided you watch the indicator and switch the blinker off manually after every turn so other drivers are not misled about where you are going.
What the free repair involves
Both daytime running light recalls are fixed with new body control module software, installed by a dealer or delivered as an over-the-air update at no cost. The 2019 CT6 needs hardware: the dealer replaces the turn-signal switch so steering wheel rotation cancels the signal again. All three repairs are free of charge.

Will my Escalade get the daytime running light fix over the air?
GM provided the body control module software as an over-the-air update for the 2021 Escalade and Escalade ESV, and the 2020-2023 CT4/CT5 recall can be handled either over the air or at a dealer, free of charge.
Does the turn signal recall affect Cadillacs other than the CT6?
No. That recall covers only 2019 CT6 vehicles, where rotating the steering wheel fails to cancel the flashing turn signal — a violation of FMVSS 108. The recall began March 11, 2019, and dealers replace the turn-signal switch.
Are the two daytime running light recalls the same thing?
