Genesis fuel leaks and fuel pump failures: which models are recalled?

6 NHTSA recalls · Genesis · Fuel System, Gasoline · model years 2019–2025 (we track 2018 and newer) · newest 2026-04-10

Genesis fuel recalls fall into two families. The first is gasoline leaking at the high-pressure fuel pipe where it joins the fuel rail: it started with 2021 G80 and GV80 2.5-liter turbo models in March 2021 and was reopened far more broadly in 2026, covering 2021-2025 G80 and GV80, 2022-2026 GV70 and 2023-2025 G90. The second is fuel pump failure causing loss of drive power, recalled three separate times between 2023 and 2024 on overlapping 2021-2023 G80, GV70, GV80 and G90 vehicles, plus a separate 2021 G70 jet-nozzle burr and a 2019-2023 G70 pump recall shared with Hyundai N models. The 2021 G80 and GV80 appear in both families.

Warning signs to watch for

Is it safe to keep driving?

None of the six Genesis notices tells owners to stop driving or to park outside, so you can keep driving while you book the repair. The 2026 fuel-pipe recall adds one condition: stop driving if you smell fuel, and get the inspection right away. With the fuel pump recalls, the engine can lose drive power in traffic, so treat hesitation or a stumble as a reason to get off the road and call the dealer rather than continuing a long trip.

What the free repair involves

Repairs vary by campaign and all are free. For the leaks, dealers replace the high-pressure fuel tube on the original 2021 G80 and GV80 recall, and inspect and tighten or replace the fuel pipe under the 2026 action. For the pump recalls, dealers inspect and repair the G70's jet nozzle, replace the fuel pump assembly, and on the 2019-2023 G70 also update engine control module software.

Common questions

My 2021 G80 shows up in more than one fuel recall — is that normal?

Yes. The 2021 G80 and GV80 appear in the original 2021 fuel tube leak recall, the expanded 2026 fuel pipe recall and the 2023 fuel pump recall. Each is a separate free repair, so check your VIN for every open one.

What should I do if I smell gasoline in my Genesis?

The 2026 fuel pipe notice says to stop driving if you smell fuel and to have the vehicle inspected right away. Leaking gasoline near an ignition source can start a fire, so do not wait for your notification letter.

Why is my Genesis G70 recalled alongside the Hyundai Veloster N?

The July 2024 fuel pump recall covers 2019-2023 G70 alongside Veloster N, Elantra N and Kona N. They share the same pump that can fail and cut drive power; dealers update engine control module software and replace the pump if needed.
