Jeep Renegade fuel pump flaw can stall engine
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious — a stall can happen while you are driving and leave you without engine power in traffic, so get this fixed promptly rather than putting it off.
What's wrong, in plain English
A manufacturing mistake in the fuel pump can let fuel pressure drop when the engine is working hard — for example, climbing at high altitude or driving in very hot weather. If that happens the engine can stall, leaving you without power. This covers certain 2017-2018 Renegade 4X2 flex-fuel (E85) models with the 2.4-liter engine. Dealers replace the fuel pump free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2019.
