Ford Transit shuttle van foldaway seats may not lock

NHTSA campaign 19V252000 · Reported 2019-03-28 · Waldoch Crafts, Inc

medium How serious is it? About this label

In the event of a crash, if the seat back moves, the seat occupant has an increased risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Waldoch modified certain 2018 Ford Transit shuttle vans by installing Freedman fold-away seats. When you rotate the back seat cushion up from its stowed position, it may not lock firmly in place. In a crash or a sudden stop, the cushion could shift under the weight of the person sitting on it instead of holding steady. Waldoch's dealers will inspect the fold-away seat and repair it, and you pay nothing for the work.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your van is covered. 2. Contact Waldoch customer service at 1-651-464-3215 to arrange the seat inspection and repair. 3. The repair is free of charge — until it is done, avoid seating passengers in the affected fold-away seats.
