What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2020 Nissan Versa cars, the wall of the gas tank may be too thin along the seam where the tank is joined together, and a small hole can form there. If a hole is present, fuel can leak out once you fill the tank more than about halfway. Leaking gasoline near hot engine and exhaust parts can catch fire. The fix is a complete replacement of the fuel tank by a Nissan dealer.

What you should do

2. Call your Nissan dealer, or Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, and ask for the fuel tank recall as soon as possible.
3. The dealer replaces the fuel tank free of charge.

Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020 Versa vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the fuel tank wall thickness may be insufficient, potentially causing a small hole in the tank seam area.
Safety risk: If a small hole is present, a fuel leak may occur if the operator fills the tank over half full, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. The recall began April 6, 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.
