Weakened braking is a serious crash risk; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but get the inspection done quickly and stop driving if the brake pedal feels soft or a brake warning light comes on.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2021 Nissan Rogues, the rear brake calipers — the parts that squeeze the brake pads against the wheel — may be missing a small internal piece. Without it, a seal can shift and brake fluid can leak out. Losing brake fluid means your brakes may not work as well as they should, so the car could take longer to stop. The dealer inspects the rear calipers and replaces them if needed, free of charge.

2. Contact your Nissan dealer, or Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 (recall PC804), to schedule the brake inspection.
3. Have the calipers inspected and replaced as needed at no cost to you.

Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021 Rogue vehicles. The rear left and/or right brake caliper assemblies may be missing an internal bushing, allowing the O-ring seal to move and brake fluid to leak.
Safety risk
A loss of brake fluid may reduce braking performance, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the left and/or right rear brake calipers, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 10, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC804.
