Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans may have loose front door hinge screws

NHTSA campaign 21V359000 · Reported 2021-05-17 · Daimler Vans USA, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

Loose door hinge screws could change the gap between the door and vehicle body, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

On these Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, the screws that hold the front door hinges to the van may not have been tightened enough. Loose screws can let the door shift, changing the gap between the door and the body of the van. If the van is in a crash, a door that does not sit correctly may not protect the people inside as well as it should. A dealer will check every one of those screws and tighten them as needed, free.

3. Have the front door hinge screws inspected and tightened as needed — there is no charge.
