Mercedes Sprinter campers have wrong stability control software

NHTSA campaign 21V360000 · Reported 2021-05-17 · Daimler Vans USA, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious — the anti-skid system may not react properly in some situations, raising crash risk, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans built with the camper package have the wrong software in the system that helps keep the van from skidding or tipping during a swerve. Camper vans sit taller and carry weight higher up, and the software was never updated to account for that. Because of this, the system may not step in the way it should in certain driving situations. A dealer will load the correct software at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Sprinter is covered. 2. Contact your dealer or DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 (recall VS3HOLAPLI) to book the update. 3. Have the software updated — it is free.
