Mercedes Sprinter van has mismatched identification numbers

NHTSA campaign 21V237000 · Reported 2021-04-05 · Daimler Vans USA, LLC

low How serious is it? About this label

The consumer may not receive information about open safety-recall campaigns, increasing the risk of injury, a crash, or fire. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Just one 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van is affected. The vehicle identification number, the code that identifies your exact van, does not match in all the places it appears: the dashboard, the certification label, and the van's body. Because those numbers disagree, the owner might not be notified about future safety recalls on this van, so a real problem could go unrepaired. A dealer will correct the number on the dashboard and on the certification label.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your van is the one covered by recall 21V237000 (recall number VS3VINCHA).
2. Call Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 or your Sprinter dealer to arrange the label correction.
3. Have the dealer replace the dashboard and certification label numbers, free of charge.
