What's wrong, in plain English

Rust can build up inside the brake booster — the part that makes your brake pedal easier to press. If it corrodes, several systems can quit at once: power brake assist, the anti-lock brakes that keep the wheels from locking up, the stability control that helps you hold the road, and the speedometer display. The brakes still work, but the pedal gets much harder to push and the car takes longer to stop. Dealers replace the brake booster.

Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021 Audi E-Tron Quattro and E-Tron Sportback Quattro vehicles. Corrosion in the brake booster may cause the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), speedometer display, and brake assist to stop functioning.
Safety risk
A loss of braking assist, ABS, and ESC will increase the effort and distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake booster, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 30, 2021. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 47R7.
