This is the most serious kind of defect, because braking can fail suddenly with no warning, so get it inspected immediately and do not drive if the pedal feels loose, soft, or unusual.

What's wrong, in plain English

The fastener that joins the brake pedal to the brake booster, the part that passes your foot pressure on to the brakes, may have been put together wrong at the factory. If it lets go, the pedal comes away from the booster and you can lose braking. That can happen suddenly while you are driving. A dealer will inspect the brake booster and repair it at no cost. Audi mailed owner letters in October and November 2024.

2. Call your Audi dealer, or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, and quote recall 46P6.
3. Get the brake booster inspected and repaired free of charge before further driving.

Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Audi E-Tron and 2020-2024 Audi E-Tron Sportback vehicles. The fastener that connects the brake pedal and the brake booster may have been improperly assembled during manufacturing, which can cause the brake pedal to detach from the brake booster.
Safety risk
Brake pedal detachment can cause a loss of brake function and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the brake booster, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 1, 2024, and November 22, 2024. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 46P6.
