What's wrong, in plain English

Some of the modules inside the large high-voltage battery pack can get too hot. A battery that overheats can catch fire. Audi's fix is to install onboard software that keeps watch on how each battery module is performing so a problem can be caught, and to replace any modules that turn out to be affected. Owner letters went out in April 2025, so the repair is available now at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your e-tron is covered.
2. Call an Audi dealer to book the service, or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, referencing recall 93U9 or 93V2.
3. The dealer installs the monitoring software and replaces any affected battery modules free of charge.

Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2020-2022 E-Tron Sportback Quattro and 2019-2022 E-Tron Quattro vehicles. Certain high-voltage battery modules may overheat.
Safety risk: A high-voltage battery that overheats increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will install onboard diagnostic software to monitor battery module performance, and replace affected battery modules where necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 3, 2025. Owners may contact Audi customer at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's numbers for this recall are 93U9 and 93V2.
