Mercedes-Benz GLC headlights can fail from water intrusion

NHTSA campaign 22V261000 · Reported 2022-04-15 · Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

Headlight failure can decrease visibility for both the driver and surrounding traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain 2021 GLC 300, GLC 300 4Matic, AMG GLC 43 4Matic, AMG GLC 63 4Matic and AMG GLC 63 S 4Matic vehicles. The electrical connection that powers the headlights may not be sealed tightly against water. If moisture gets into that connection, a headlight can stop working. That leaves you with less light on dark roads and makes your vehicle harder for other drivers to see and judge. Dealers will inspect and replace the headlight sealing plugs.
