Mercedes-Benz Sprinter backup camera may not show image
medium How serious is it? About this label
The notice sets no driving restriction, but until the software is updated, assume the camera may not work and rely on your mirrors and extra care when reversing.
What's wrong, in plain English
A software error can keep the backup camera from putting its picture on the screen. When the image does not come up, you lose your view of what is behind the van, which makes backing into someone or something more likely. Because of this, these vans do not meet the federal rear visibility rule. The fix is a software update for the rearview camera that a dealer installs, and it costs you nothing.
What you should do
2. Contact a dealer or Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 (recall VS3KOMRUE).
3. Have the rearview camera software updated — the repair is free.
