Loss of steering control while driving can cause a crash, and the notice does not tell owners to park the truck.

What's wrong, in plain English

The bolts that hold the steering gear in place may not have been tightened properly at the factory. The steering gear is the part that turns your steering wheel motion into the wheels actually turning. If those bolts are loose, you can lose control of the truck while driving. The dealer will tighten the steering gear bolts to the correct specification. The check and the repair cost you nothing. Volvo is mailing letters to owners of the affected trucks.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your truck is included. 2. Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer or Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 (recall RVXX2307). 3. Have the steering gear bolts tightened — the repair is free.
