Volvo VN and VAH trucks lose electronic safety systems
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious, because braking and stability aids you count on may quietly stop working; the notice does not tell drivers to park the truck, so it can stay in service until the free reprogramming is done.
What's wrong, in plain English
These trucks have a control unit that runs several driver-assist and braking systems. Electrical interference and a weak signal can make that unit misread commands or quit working. When it does, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, adaptive cruise control, and the collision warning system can work poorly or stop working at all. A dealer fixes this by loading new software into the control unit, which does not require replacing parts.
What you should do
2. Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer or Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 (recall RVXX2409).
3. Schedule the software reprogramming — it is done free of charge.
