Cadillac Lyriq rear seat belt anchor may be weak

NHTSA campaign 23V785000 · Reported 2023-11-22 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious for anyone riding in back: the car may be driven, but the notice says to leave the left rear and center rear seats empty until the repair is done.

What's wrong, in plain English

The metal bracket that holds the rear seat belts to the seat frame may have been welded poorly at the factory. This affects the left rear and middle rear belts. If the weld gives way in a crash, those belts may not hold the person wearing them, and they could be badly hurt. Cadillac says nobody should sit in the left rear or center rear seat until it is fixed. A dealer replaces the rear seat cushion frame.

What you should do

1. Stop using the left rear and center rear seating positions right away.
2. Confirm your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, then contact your Cadillac dealer or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (recall N232425220).
3. Have the rear seat cushion frame replaced free of charge.
